The House
Hawthorn Cottage was built by Cornelius Baker and his wife Jenny Corkum in the mid-1880s and is located just up the hill from Chester’s picturesque Back Harbour. The Paterson’s purchased the property in the summer of 2007 and spent a year renovating to restore it to today’s high standards while maintaining its traditional cottage nature. The result is a blend of new and old creating a wonderful ‘down east’ atmosphere. With antiques collected over the years, along with some outstanding nautical paintings and photographs, the house has a definite maritime feel to it.
Hawthorn Cottage is the perfect home away from home located right in the heart of Chester just steps from the water’s edge. A short stroll away you will discover many fine dining establishments, local shops and galleries. Hawthorn Cottage offers visitors that wonderful, warm down east hospitality that Maritimers are so famous for.
